Heaven is For Real by Todd Burpo Book Review

Heaven is For Real by Todd Burpo is the riveting story of the agony of parents of a small child with a life threatening illness and the awesome revelation of that young boy and his trip to heaven.  Told with an honest heart of a father and pastor, Todd shares a story so fascinating, yet real.  When his son Colton had emergency surgery a few months before his fourth birthday, the Burpos were grateful to God for sparing his life.  Little did they know what Colton had experienced during his surgery until a few months later when passing by the hospital, Colton mentioned that angels sang to him.  From then on bits and pieces emerged from Colton about his amazing journey to heaven.  At first, Todd thought he was repeating what he had learned in church, but then realized that no four year old could know details about heaven that he was telling.

After reading this book, I think about life a lot differently.  Colton's story really touched me since I am now a mom of a young boy.  I don't know why God allows certain people the glimpse of heaven, but this story is especially wonderful because it happened to a little child.  I was astounded by the details this young boy gave and the emotions attached to his experiences.  And right after reading it I looked up into the sky and saw a rainbow in the clouds.  It was like a confirmation to me that heaven is real and God is there and he knows what is going on here on this earth and in each of our lives.  This is an absolute must read book!
